Meeting with Luigi Di Maio Special Representative of the European Union for the Gulf

The Italian Initiative Group had the pleasure of hosting a working breakfast attended by Luigi Di Maio, Special Representative of the European Union for the Gulf.

The meeting provided an important opportunity for discussion on a region that is becoming increasingly central to global geopolitical dynamics. The conversation focused on the main strategic pillars of the area, with particular attention to the energy and maritime sectors, which are key hubs for both regional and international developments.

Further topics included global balance and the relationships between the Gulf States and other international actors, highlighting the growing complexity of the context and the need for coordinated and multilateral approaches.

Additional focus was placed on alliances and defense agreements, as well as on the prospects for strengthening strategic partnerships with Europe, with a view to long-term stability and cooperation.

The GII reaffirms its commitment to promoting high-level dialogue on issues of international relevance related to the competencies of the European Union, acting as a permanent platform for exchange between institutional representatives and Italian economic stakeholders active in Brussels.
