
Meeting with Stefano Sannino | Director General for the Middle East, North Africa, and the Gulf (DG MENA)
The GII was pleased to host Stefano Sannino, Director-General for the Middle East, North Africa and the Gulf (DG MENA), on 13 November in Brussels at Le Louise Hotel (Av. de la Toison d’Or 40, 1050 Brussels, Belgium).
In his remarks, the Director-General retraced the origins and evolution of the new Directorate-General, emphasizing that its creation responds to the need for a more integrated and structured approach in relations between the EU and the countries of the Middle East, North Africa, and the Gulf.
The Ambassador outlined the three pillars on which the DG’s work is based: people, economy, and security & migration. He also highlighted the region’s significant potential, both in terms of economic development and social and technological opportunities, inviting reflection on how the European Union can attract greater investment and strengthen its strategic presence.
