In Conversation with Stefano Sannino | Secretary General of the European External Action Service (EEAS)
The meeting with Stefano Sannino, Secretary General of the European External Action Service (EEAS), offered the Members of GII an important opportunity to engage with the European Institutions about the most pressing issues and main economic, political and social priorities of the EU.
The main topics discussed were related to the European Commission’s priority for “A stronger Europe in the world” on how to strengthen the European foreign and security policy, multilateralism, and economic diplomacy activities. The Secretary General opened the debate about the EU’s strategic autonomy; the new connectivity strategy; energy and economic diplomacy how to make Europe a competitive environment for businesses while ensuring open and fair trade; the EU taxonomy for sustainable activities; the Green Deal Fit for 55package and CBAM negotiations. In addition, key insights were provided about the EU partnerships and relations with Africa, Russia, China, the United States and Greenland and with partners in the Indo-Pacific region.
